Hello Summer Slimline

Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out my blog. Today I’m sharing a card overflowing with summer time happiness. This card features the new Hello Summer stamp set from Kindred Stamps. Inspiration for this card came from Ashley Ebben and her creation on the Sunny Studio Stamps blog. Check out her slimline card here.

Slimline cards are great because you can make multiple scenes on one card. I loved the idea of showing half the card on the beach and the other half of the card under the water.

For the top half of the card, I layered multiple cuts of the Puffy Cloud Borders from Lawn Fawn to create the clouds. I also used the Stitched Hillside Borders to make the beach and the bottom of the ocean. The palm tree stamp is from the Beach Happy (retired) stamp set from Stampin’ Up.  I heat embossed the “Hello Summer” sentiment with white embossing powder from Brutus Monroe onto a stitched yellow circle. I adhered the circle, the penguin and the dog onto the card with some 3D foam tape.

I used the Copic sketch markers to color all of the character images. I used Distress Oxide inks to create the sky background and water background. The seaweed, coral, and other underwater images come from the Mermaid for You stamp set from Lawn Fawn. Lastly, I added some timy sparkles throughout the card for additional shine.
