Kindred Stamps July 2020 Release – History Makers

Thanks for stopping by my blog! It’s Day 2 of the Kindred Stamps July 2020 Release Week! Today I am sharing my first set of sneak peeks for the week featuring the History Makers stamp set. This stamp set will be available on Friday, July 24th at 8 AM PST. I colored all of the characters with my Copic Sketch alcohol markers. The colors I used to illustrate these characters are listed at the end of this blog post.
Project 1
For my first card I created a patriotic card background for these two iconic history makers. This card background was inspired by a 4th of July creation by Lady Michelle, check out her YouTube video here. I used the ink-smooching technique with Distress Inks to create the watercolor look for the stars and stripes. To mask off the horizontal stripes I used 1/2″ thick purple tape. For the red stripes, I used Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, and Carved Pumpkin Distress inks. For the blue stars, I used the Tumbled Glass, and Blueprint Sketch Distress inks. Finally, for additional embellishment I used Strawberry Coulis Tonic Nuvo Jewel Drops on the card base.
Project 2
My second project features this pompous king. I wanted the card background to resemble his crown so I used regal tones of gold, red, white, and black. I used the Swirly Bits stencil and Festive Berries Distress Oxide ink to illustrate the velvet red fabric. I used the Spotted stencil and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to illustrate the fur on the crown. I also used gold foil cardstock to represent the gold on the crown. I stamped the sentiments on the stitched circles and distressed the edges of the circles with the red ink. I matted the sentiment circles with gold foil circle die cuts. To finish the circle I propped the circles and the king image on foam adhesive to add dimension to the card.
Project 3
For my last card I wanted to make a project showcasing a wonderful sisterly bond. For the background, I wanted to mix and match stencils that give a colonial feel so I used the Doily stencil and the Country Quilt stencil. I used the Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink, white pigment ink, and Wild Wisteria cardstock with these stencils to create a background that contrasted from the sisters’ dresses. Finally, I attached the characters to the card with foam tape.
