Ai Quick and Simple Challenge

Image
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing my creation for Art Impressions Quick and Simple challenge. For more information on this challenge check out the announcement here. For my submission I used the His & Hers Flying High stamp set to create a card with a simple sky background and a simple interior design. Scroll to the bottom of this post to see the challenge rules. Hurry, the challenge only lasts one week and closes Sept 2nd at 5PM PT! I used Broken Glass and Tumbled Glass Distress oxides to ink blend the simple sky background onto the stitched rectangle die cut. I stamped the clouds in Broken Glass oxide ink and shaded the edges. I fussy cut the clouds and placed them on the card filling the blank space around the airplane and the banner. I colored the plane and the couple with alcohol markers and attached the image to the card using foam tape for dimension. I used a fine tip black pen to draw the rope connecting the banner to the plane. I matted the sky background with green cardsto…

i-Crafter Cherry Blossom Bursts

Image
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing another i-Crafter creation featuring the Cherry Blossom Bursts die set. This card is also featured on the i-Crafter blog today, check it out here.
For this card I used a fun-fold layout and a simple cherry blossom pink and red color scheme. To assemble the card I cut a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock for the card base. Then I scored the cardstock at 5 1/2" and 6 3/4". After attaching a decorative piece of cardstock and gold ribbon I glued down the 1 1/4" x 4 1/4" section to create a square fold opening.
I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder in the upper right hand corner of the solid pink square. The sentiment is from the Scattered Thoughts stamp set.  Next I die cut the floral images into the same piece of cardstock. I used red dye ink to add the ink splatter onto the cardstock and the shading onto the flowers.
To finish the card I matted the square with scraps of coordinating scrapbook paper. I also added …

KS Aug 2020 Wacky Holiday - National Coffee Day

Image
Hi everyone! Kindred Stamps is doing something a little different this month by releasing the Wacky Holiday stamps during release week! Today I am sharing my creation with the new National Coffee Day stamp set. This stamp set will be available Friday, Aug 28 at 8AM PST along with the other new release items. Click here to check out my blog post from earlier this week for more sneek peaks on items available this Friday!
To make this card background I used the Coffee Bean stencil and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Ink. I used some retired coffee themed coordinating cardstock to matte the stenciled background and for the envelope liner. I also fussy cut the coffee images from the retired coffee cardstock.  I colored the stamped image with my Copic Sketch markers and attached it to the squiggle mat die cut. I distress the edges of the die cut to give the card more of that espresso flavor.  The stamp set also includes some miniature coffee stamps. I used these stamps to create a border at t…

Crafty Festival Christmas Club August 2020 Blog Hop

Image
Hey everybody! It's the 25th, so you know what that means, it's the Crafty Festival Christmas Club blog hop! Each month we share a little bit of holiday inspiration with this hop. Instead of forcing yourself to make a bunch of holiday cards at the last minute, it spaces the work throughout the year.  Check out the Crafty Festival Facebook page for more information on the Christmas Club blog hop and their other blog hops here
Today I want to share this quick and easy holiday card I made with the retired Snow is Glistening  stamp set. This card is great for the holidays because it super easy to replicate and it's colorful!
I used ink daubers to stamp the tree in multiple colors. Instead of stamping the image from the ink pad then directly to cardstock, I picked the ink up from the pad with the daubers then dabbed onto the stamp then I stamped the image onto the cardstock. I trimmed the card front to be matted onto the card base for dimension. I used foil snowflakes and clear…

Image
Thanks for stopping by my blog! It's the  Kindred Stamps Release Week for August 2020! Today I am sharing a sneak peek of the 4" x 6" Costumed Crew stamp set. This stamp set will be available on Friday, August 28th at 8 AM PST.
This set inspired so many projects for me!  I made 5 cards and a set of treatboxes. I colored all of the characters with my Copic Sketch alcohol markers. At the bottom of this blog post I included a coloring guide for these characters. Check back later this week for more sneak peeks.
Project 1For my first project I wanted to make a card featuring all of the animals from the stamp set. For this card I created a scene where the characters were out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood.
First I masked off the bottom portion of the card front for the road and sidewalk. Then I ink blended the night sky with some Distress Oxide inks. Next, I ink blended the sidewalk section and a stitched circle with Pumice Stone Oxide ink. I stamped the sentiment on the…

This project is also being featured on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog today, make sure to check it out here! You can purchase the Cocktail Witch stamp set on The Rabbit Hole Designs website.
Cocktail Witch is a sassy take on the retro, pin-up cartoon style art. I really enjoy the cuddly cat friend and the bubbly concoction! This image can be colored in a bunch of wickedly fun variations. Check out this blog post to see some of my other fun creations with this set. This witch is frighteningly fun! First, I colored the witch with my Copic Sketch markers giving her more of a wicked color scheme. I also used a white gel pen to add a sparkle look to her hat and dress. I have listed the colors I used at the end of this blog post.  To create the card, I die cut the front panel with a stitched rectangle die. For the background I us…

Ai Tropical Treat Challenge

Image
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing my creation for Art Impressions Tropical Treat Challenge. For more information on this challenge check out the announcement here. For my project I made a tri-fold card with Tropical Circlet MTF stamp set. Scroll to the bottom of this post to see the challenge rules. Hurry, the challenge closes Aug 26th at 5PM PT! Art Impressions makes a lot of fun and interactive stamp sets, but currently I really like the Circlet Mini Tryfolds. These tryfold cards have such a unique layering effect and they are super easy to make with Art Impressions pre-made tryfold cardstock and envelope packs. Check out the tryfold card packs here!
To make this I card I first stamped the front leaf wreath and die cut the hole within the center of the leaves. I also traced the front opening onto the middle panel with a pencil so I could line up the center image with the front image. To decorate the front panel I die cut a circle mask to protect the stamped image. Then, I ink blended a …

Cake and Confetti Slimline Card

Image
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing this cake and confetti themed slimline card I made with Art ImpressionsBirthday Circlet MTF stamp set. These images work wonderfully when stacked on top of each other (like in a trifold) or when stamped side-by-side. This card is also featured on the Art Impressions blog today, check it out here! First, I stamped the three tryfold circle images on the cardstock with the front image on the left, middle image on the right, and back image in the center. Then I masked the circle images to ink blend the background.
Before coloring the images I browsing birthday color schemes on Pinterest. I was looking for bright but somewhat neutral colors. I decided on the the color scheme below. I colored the stamped images with my Copic Sketch alcohol markers.  Next, to decorate the background I used the confetti stencil and mint colored ink to ink blend the cardstock. I finished the project by matting the card front with coral solid cardstock.
Thank you for stopping by my…

Ai Challenge - Cards for Kindness

Image
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing my creation for my first Art Impressions Challenge as part of their wonderful design team. Art Impressions is partnering with Scrapbook.com for their event, Cards for Kindness. For more information on this event check out the details here. While on the Scrapbook.com website make sure to check out their Art Impressions Exclusive products here.
For this event they request you mail in a minimum of 10 cards so I wanted to make a card design I could duplicate easily. For my challenge project I used the Exclusive Rose stamp set available on the Scrapbook.com website. I love "thinking of you" cards because they are great for variety of occasions.
First, I used the Oval Double Stitched Dies to die cut oval shapes out of Canson watercolor paper. I then used my Misti stamping platform and Tombow Dual Brush Markers to color and stamp the rose image onto all of the ovals. I used a waterbrush to spread the color throughout the rose stem images.
For the card b…

i-Crafter Mermaid Tunnel Card

Image
Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a 3D creation featuring the new Tunnel Card, Mermaid Add-On set which works with the Tunnel Card Base die set from i-Crafter. This card is also featured on the i-Crafter blog today, check it out here. The Tunnel Card, Mermaid Add-On contains 8 metal dies to create an underwater grotto perfect for a mermaid and her ocean friends. There are three interchangeable layer pieces to create the underwater scene. These background layers (circles) line up perfectly into the tunnel base die. Additional decorative die pieces include coral, fishes, seaweed, other underwater plants and a scrolled banner to layer. To make the tunnel card I first cut out four tunnel bases, swapping out the scenic layers, and finally leaving the final base solid. I used the solid card base for the tunnel card background. I trimmed off the sides of the two inner layers, one at the score lines and the other a little past the score lines to give varying heights. To decorate the tunnel card…

Hi everyone! I'm excited to share my very first creation as a member of the Art Impressions design team. For more details on how to make a side step card check out this tutorial from All That Scraps Blog here. To create the sky I ink blended some clouds with the Cloud Stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. To create the ground I die cut two pieces of grassy borders from solid green cardstock. I also used my Copic Sketch E80's series markers t…

Butterfly Bursts First, I made two cards featuring the Butterfly Bursts die set. I made one card utilizing a warm color scheme and another with a cool color scheme.  For these projects I die cut the butterflies out of rainbow glimmer cardstock. I love the glittery ombre fades throughout the butterflies.  For the first card I used the Cosmic Flare stencil and Distress Oxide inks to create the background. I used Tonic Nuvo Drops to add embellishment and matted the card base onto dark purple cardstock.  For the second card I used the circle dots from the Comic Halftone Dots stamp set on soft blue cardstock to create the background and matted the background on dark purple cardstock. To finish the ca…
