KS August 2020 Release – Costume Crew

Thanks for stopping by my blog! It’s the  Kindred Stamps Release Week for August 2020! Today I am sharing a sneak peek of the 4″ x 6″ Costumed Crew stamp set. This stamp set will be available on Friday, August 28th at 8 AM PST.
This set inspired so many projects for me!  I made 5 cards and a set of treatboxes. I colored all of the characters with my Copic Sketch alcohol markers. At the bottom of this blog post I included a coloring guide for these characters. Check back later this week for more sneak peeks.

Project 1

For my first project I wanted to make a card featuring all of the animals from the stamp set. For this card I created a scene where the characters were out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood.
First I masked off the bottom portion of the card front for the road and sidewalk. Then I ink blended the night sky with some Distress Oxide inks. Next, I ink blended the sidewalk section and a stitched circle with Pumice Stone Oxide ink. I stamped the sentiment on the stitched circle die cut and adhered it to the card to look like the moon. I added some lines to the sidewalk with an ink pen. Next I added some grass to the background with the Grassy Border Lawn Cuts.
To finish the card I used some black cardstock to create the house silhouette and the road. I used for little yellow squares to create the window. Finally, I adhered the characters with some glue and foam tape.

Project 2

My second project features the brand new Jack O’ Lantern Stencil. I used different shades of purple ink to create the card background. I used Black Soot ink with the stencil to ink blend the many faces onto the background.
To add some dimension I created a second background featuring a night sky on a stitched tag. I ink blended a stitched circle with Pumice Stone oxide ink to create a moon. I heat embossed the sentiment and added sequins for embellishment. I used foam tape to adhered the tag onto the card background.
Project 3
For my third project I used the Waves die as a stencil for the flames with some red, orange, and yellow distress oxide inks. I heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of black cardstock and attached it using black foam tape. I used some pale yellow sequins for embellishment.
Project 4
For this project I made a sea horse mermaid. To decorate this card I used Dusty Concord, Peacock Feathers, and Crack Pistachio to create an under the sea color scheme. I used a variety of die cuts and stencils with this card to create a layering effect. Two of the stencils featured on this card include the Bubbles stencil and the Mermaid scales stencil. To finish the card I used sequins for embellishment.
Project 5
For this project I tried to make a card that was not Halloween themed. I masked the pumpkin face on the treat bag when stamping to make it a generic bag. I used retired cardstock to create the card layers and the envelope liner. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. With the pastel colors used in this design, this card could be used for a variety of holidays.
Project 6
For my last project I made a set of Halloween treat boxes, one for each character in the stamp set. For instructions on how to build these treat boxes check out Chic N Scratch’s blog post here. To decorate these boxes I used the Harlequin stencil, a stitched circle for the sentiment, some ribbon and twine.
