Peace, Love & Cubbies

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Today I am sharing this hippie-inspired card featuring a tie-dye bus. Shop the Art Impressions Bus Cubbies stamp and die set here! Check out the rest of the Critter Cubbies line here.

First, I created a simple background right on the card base. I used Purple Tape to mask off the areas that I wanted to keep plain white. I used the tape to create a 3/4″ border on each side. To match the fluorescent bus I used the Electro Pop Neon Ink Blaring Blue for a bright pop of color.  To create the background I initially brushed a light layer of color throughout the rectangular space, then I laid the stencil down and ink blended over the area a second time to create a shaded look. I used my Copic Sketch markers to color the bus and the critters. To create the tie-dye look on the bus I used the “flick” technique in a circular shape. Make sure to leave some space between the colors! At the bottom of the blog post I have listed the colors I used to create the bus and the critters. Next, I traced the outline of the bus onto a piece of vellum to create the muted background of the bus. I attached the balloons to the card base using foam tape and using a multi-liner pen to create the strings tied to the balloons. To finish the card I stamped the “Happy Trails” sentiment onto the card base.
*Note: For me, the Rina K Electro Pop Neon inks work best with foam blenders!
