KS Futuristic Family LE Box Creations

It’s been a LONG wait since the last Kindred Stamps Limited Edition box, but the wait is finally over! The Futuristic Family box has arrived! This box includes so many great items including a stamp set, paper pack, metal die, stencil, shaker mix, washi tape, embossing powder and a bunch of other fun goodies. The Futuristic Family box will be available on the Kindred Stamps website on Friday, Oct. 23rd at 8 AM PST. This box inspired so many projects for me and I can’t wait to share them all with you. I have provided a Copic coloring guide for all of fun these characters at the end of this blog post. Leave a comment below and tell me which project was your favorite!
1st Project
I might as well start by sharing my most interactive card: a two-way light up card! This stamp set has so many wonderful sentiments including the robot noises. I used the “beep” and “boop” sentiments as my action buttons for this light up card. I used Pear Blossom Press EZ-Lights to create the lights within the circuits. The Circuit Stencil coordinates so well with the robot and it creates the perfect background for this square 5.5″ x 5.5″ card. I used Pumice Stone and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide inks to create the background. The “boop” button activates the red lights and the “beep” button activates the blue lights. I heat embossed the noise sentiments with silver embossing powder and I embossed the “Your Future is Bright” sentiment with white embossing powder onto a black sentiment strip. To finish the card I added square sequins for embellishment and I attached the robot with foam tape for dimension.
The easiest process, for me, to create a light up card:
  • Ink blend the card background then use a small hole punch to cut out the areas on the card where you want the light to shine through the front of the card.
  • With a pencil trace the openings onto the card base that way you know where to place the lights.
  • Use glue dots, tear tape and Scotch tape to adhere the EZ-lights mechanisms (battery holders and buttons, the wires, and the lights) to the card base. I attach the lights to the card base so that the illuminated areas aren’t so concentrated.
  • Attach double layered foam tape to the back of the card background or front of the card base to account for the height of the battery and button mechanism.
  • Attach the jack o’lantern background to the card base.
  • Add red and blue colored vellum to the back background to hide the lights and attach the background to the card base.
  • For final touches add a “Push Here” button and now you have a light up card!
2nd Project
My second card design showcases part of the exclusive box stencil. This stencil is absolutely amazing as it includes various builder designs. I ink blended with Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon, and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide inks to create the angled design. I stamped the “See You in A Flash” sentiment in Versamark black ink.
3rd Project
For my third card I wanted to showcase some of the paper included in the box exclusive paper pack. I used two different paper designs to create the card background. Next I die cut a rounded stitched rectangle. I used the box stencil and Hickory Smoke Distress ink to distress the edges and add a subtle design to the die cut. Finally, I heat embossed the “You Send Me into Orbit” sentiment with white embossing powder.
4th Project
For my next card I used the stencil again to create a simple futuristic background. I blended the ombre using Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide inks then I used Black Soot Distress ink to create the retro stars. To finish the card I heat embossed the “Reach for the Stars” sentiment with white embossing powder onto a black sentiment strip.
5th Project
I wanted to make a card that showcased all of the characters and this card is it! Slimline cards are great when you want to include a lot of characters on your card. For the card background I tried to make a fun galaxy blend using Cracked Pistachio, Picked Raspberry, and Black Soot Oxide inks. I used metallic paint and Black Soot ink to create a “starry” ink splatter effect. I matted the space background onto a piece of black cardstock and I heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder onto a black sentiment strip. I also used a few circle sequins to embellish the card.
6th Project
For my very last card I wanted to feature the awesome box exclusive craft die! First I die cut the futuristc city with black cardstock, then I heat embossed the die cut with the box exclusive embossing powder to give it the shimmery look. I created the sunset ombre background with some Distress Oxide inks and matted it onto black cardstock. I used Black Soot ink to create the ink splatter effect. Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder onto a black rounded rectangle die cut and attached it to the card with foam tape for dimension.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. I hope you enjoyed my futuristic creations. The Futuristic Family limited edition box will be available on the Kindred Stamps website on Friday, October 23rd at 8 AM PST.
